Hatred is a violent twin-stick shooter, in which you take the role of The Antagonist fighting against all of humanity.

Hatred casts you as the Antagonist, a man driven by contempt for humanity who sets out on a violent rampage through city districts. The game presents this premise without a conventional heroic goal or an elaborate backstory.
Move through isometric levels, use firearms and explosives, and fight civilians and increasingly armed law enforcement. Missions include area-clearing objectives, with routes leading to an escape vehicle; environments and cover can be damaged during combat.
Combat is built around managing ammunition and surviving incoming fire. Executions can restore health, and one review describes a rage meter that fills through civilian kills to provide temporary protection and health recovery. The campaign grows more difficult as police and military forces join the fight.
Among the substantive reviews, players appreciate the stark monochrome look, destructible environments, and chaotic shooting, with some also enjoying the deliberately bleak or absurd tone and the challenge. Criticism centers on repetitive missions, a short campaign, limited story depth, and frustrations with difficulty or camera and controls. The sample also contains many ironic and joke reviews, so these themes should not be taken as representative of all players.
