You take the role of a Decoder at PLATiNA :: LAB, where researchers are trying to restore a mysteriously encrypted Data World. Work alongside the characters known as DBs as the story unfolds.
Play music by hitting falling notes in time across four- or six-lane charts. Tracks have EASY, HARD, and OVER difficulty tiers, while PLUS modes add two more notes to the layout. The soundtrack spans genres including pop, metal, jazz fusion, and hardcore.
Playing with a character builds Affinity and can unlock rewards. Research Notes and Quests offer tasks with further rewards, including songs and customization items, while story progression reveals more of the setting and its characters.
