How To Survive: Third Person Standalone

You play as a survivor stranded on a zombie-infested archipelago. The game shifts How to Survive into an over-the-shoulder third-person view, with a story framed by survival advice from an eccentric stranger.

Explore four islands, gather supplies, hunt and fish for food, and find water. Craft tools and weapons from collected materials, then use them to deal with zombies and other natural and unnatural threats while tending to basic needs such as food, water, and shelter.

Choose from four characters with different stats and skill progressions. Play the story, take on eight challenges, or enter a free-roam mode with permadeath; difficulty settings offer different survival conditions.

Reviews are mixed. Some players enjoy the crafting and resource-survival systems, the island atmosphere, and parts of the story or day-and-night cycle. Common criticisms focus on the third-person camera and controls making combat awkward, alongside technical problems, dated visuals, and repetitive or short-lived gameplay.
