A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

CrossCode follows Lea, an avatar in the fictional MMO CrossWorlds. As she explores its world alongside other players, a larger science-fiction story unfolds.
Fight in real time with melee and ranged attacks, dodges, guards, and elemental abilities. Enemies have weaknesses to discover, while dungeons use puzzles involving aimed shots, ricochets, timing, and environmental mechanisms.
Explore seven areas for hidden chests and secrets, take on side quests, and face enemies and bosses. Equipment and branching skill paths let you develop Lea’s combat options as you progress.
Players who praise CrossCode often highlight its story, expressive characters, and the feel of exploring a fictional MMO as a single-player adventure. They also enjoy its real-time elemental combat, puzzle design, and pixel art and music. These strengths are not universal: many reviews say puzzles are so frequent or lengthy that they interrupt the story, and some find their timing demanding or platform heights hard to judge.
