In a near-future setting, five high-school girls are invited to join a strange government program and encounter a hidden side of their reality. The visual-novel story moves among their interconnected perspectives, with fully voiced Japanese dialogue.
Songs feature scrolling keyboard notes and an aerial field controlled with the mouse. Story encounters pair specific songs with characters the protagonists confront or assist; four difficulty levels increase the demands of the charts. The game includes more than 70 songs, including over 40 original tracks.
Materials earned through challenges are used to craft cards by fitting shapes into colored-grid Blueprints. Their arrangements determine card stats and bonuses, and players can equip up to five cards for song encounters. Story progress unlocks songs and further card recipes, connecting the narrative, rhythm play, and crafting.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its varied music, distinctive and demanding rhythm controls, and the way songs, story encounters, and card crafting connect into one experience. Some also value the voiced visual-novel presentation and the card puzzles. Reviews are divided on the narrative, while recurring complaints focus on the steep control learning curve, songs being unlocked through lengthy story progression, and friction in the card and encounter systems.

Tying music gameplay to a tale of lies and truth, 'In Falsus' guides players through seamless progression from flow to mastery, welcoming those new and experienced to surmount challenges and rise higher with each and every encounter.
