Vikings - Wolves of Midgard

After their village is destroyed, the Ulfung Viking clan sets out to stop the Jotans and other forces threatening Midgard. You play as the clan chief, choosing a warrior or shieldmaiden and traveling through realms including frozen Niflheim and fiery Balheim.

Missions send you through enemy-filled areas to fight giants, undead, and other creatures, take on bosses, and explore for treasures and optional objectives. Some maps include environmental puzzles, while extreme cold or heat can build up exposure and make you seek safer areas.

Combat uses weapons such as swords, bows, and spell-powered canes, with weapon-linked skills, god-granted abilities, and amulets to shape your approach. Collecting blood lets you make offerings for upgrades, and you can develop the clan’s settlement. The campaign can also be played in two-player co-op.

Players who enjoy the game often point to its Norse setting, atmospheric environments, and satisfying action combat, with some also appreciating its mission maps, progression, and co-op. Other reviews find the combat repetitive, the loot and character development unrewarding, or the exposure and dodge mechanics disruptive.
