Command a Great Eagle
Step into a darker, grittier Middle-earth. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition expands Tolkien’s epic legendarium, delving into the brutal, untold story of Agandaûr, a Black Númenórean and servant of Sauron who has rallied an immense force in the ruins of Fornost.
Developed by Aspyr Media · Published by Aspyr Media
Set alongside the Fellowship’s journey, the campaign follows three heroes defending the North of Middle-earth from Agandaûr, a servant of Sauron gathering forces at Fornost.
Fight in third-person using each hero’s distinct strengths: Eradan’s stealth, bows, and swords; Andriel’s healing and magic; or Farin’s durability and melee attacks. Face Orcs, Trolls, Wargs, and other enemies across the campaign, with the Great Eagle Beleram available to aid in battle.
Play alone or with up to two others online or in split-screen co-op. Develop the heroes with skills and equipment, and in solo play switch between the three characters during a level to control them and manage their gear.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its co-op campaign, Middle-earth setting, and straightforward hack-and-slash combat, with many also appreciating the chance to revisit a favorite or discover it for the first time. Reviews highlight switching between heroes as a useful solo-play improvement. Some players, however, report co-op save or progression problems and bugs that can interrupt play.
