Twilight Struggle is a two-player strategy game set during the Cold War. One player leads the US and the other the USSR, competing for influence and control across a world map.
Players use cards based on historical events to carry out actions or place influence. A card associated with the opponent can also trigger that opponent’s event, forcing players to weigh its immediate value against its possible consequences.
Each turn brings new choices about where to focus and which risks to accept, including the threat of nuclear escalation. Play against the AI or another player, with online games supporting asynchronous turns.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its faithful adaptation of the board game and the depth of its card-driven strategy, where decisions can create difficult trade-offs and make repeat games feel different. Reviews also appreciate the historical setting and atmosphere, as well as the convenience of playing digitally with friends. Opinions on the AI and digital interface are mixed, with many reviewers finding the AI weak or frustrating.
