In a troubled 2048 Berlin, journalist Richard Nolan wakes after an explosion with gaps in his memory and his wife and son missing. His search draws him into a conflict over artificial intelligence, human identity, and the promise of a digital future.
Play from a third-person perspective as you explore locations, talk with characters, examine clues, and piece together events from Richard’s past. Progress is largely story-led, with light puzzles and occasional mini-games rather than action-focused challenges.
The story unfolds across multiple playable characters and contrasting settings, including a virtual city. Dialogue choices affect conversations, while the narrative remains mostly linear; selected decisions shape parts of the story.
Players who enjoy State of Mind often point to its science-fiction mystery, questions about identity and technology, and the contrast between its futuristic settings. Its angular visual style and atmospheric presentation also stand out in favorable reviews. Reactions are mixed, however: some players find the story slow or the gameplay too slight, while others are drawn in by its ideas and world.
