Set in 17th-century Eastern Europe, the game puts you in the role of a lone character navigating conflicts among regional factions. You can serve a faction and pursue its story, or make your own way through the open sandbox.
Build and command an army, then fight on foot or horseback with firearms, swords, and other weapons. Muskets and pistols bring slow-reloading volleys into battles alongside cavalry and melee combat; you can also customize your soldiers’ equipment and choose options before a siege.
Grow your influence through quests, trade, and campaigns to take towns, castles, and provinces. Three main faction storylines and multiple endings offer structured paths through the conflict, while multiplayer includes the Captain mode.
Players who enjoy the game often point to its gunpowder-era take on Mount & Blade combat, the Eastern European historical setting, and the freedom to build an army and pursue battles or faction quests. Some also praise mounted fighting and large-scale clashes. Other reviews describe technical problems, including bugs that can disrupt campaigns and authentication issues that prevent access.
