You play as Henry, a blacksmith's son whose village is destroyed during a conflict in Bohemia. In the service of Lord Radzig, he becomes caught up in the war while pursuing his own goals and learning to survive in a world where he is no seasoned warrior.
Explore medieval Bohemia and take on main and side quests that can often be approached in different ways. Dialogue, persuasion, bribery, threats, stealth, theft, and combat can all help resolve situations, while choices and reputation affect how people respond to Henry and what happens next.
Henry develops skills through practice and training, from reading and speech to weapons and alchemy. Combat relies on timing, direction, stamina, and equipment; daily survival also involves eating, sleeping, staying clean, and maintaining gear. Other activities include hunting, lockpicking, brewing potions, and horseback travel.
Players who enjoy the game often point to its grounded medieval setting, immersive world, and the feeling that Henry's growth is earned through practice and experience. Reviewers also appreciate having different ways to handle quests and the story's characters and dialogue. The demanding pace and combat are divisive: some find mastery rewarding, while others find the systems frustrating or slow.
