Set in the 1920s, Mysterium is a cooperative deduction game about a murder. Players investigate as psychics seeking the killer, weapon, and location, while one player takes the role of the ghost trying to guide them.
The ghost cannot explain clues directly and instead sends illustrated Vision Cards. Psychics discuss what the images might mean and match them to possible suspects, places, and objects; success depends on how the group interprets the pictures.
Play as the ghost or a psychic, with solo play alongside AI partners, online multiplayer for up to seven players, or pass-and-play on one device. Options include a clairvoyancy variant and a story mode about the psychics.
Players who enjoy Mysterium often praise the lively group discussions, creative interpretations of the ghost’s picture clues, and funny disagreements that emerge when friends think differently. Some also appreciate the digital version as an easy way to play the board game remotely. Enjoyment is frequently described as strongest with human friends; reviews raise recurring concerns about server availability, online play, and AI partners.
