MX Bikes puts you in the saddle of a motocross bike in a simulation focused on motorcycle handling and setup. There is no AI or career mode.
Ride off-road tracks and manage the bike through jumps, corners, and changing terrain. Bike dynamics, chassis flex, tyre behavior, terrain deformation, and wet conditions are simulated; you can also adjust bike settings and rider gestures.
Host or join online races, with event data collected for rider comparisons. You can customize your bike and riding gear, and tools and documentation support adding community-made tracks, bikes, and other content.
Reviewers often describe a steep learning curve: controlling the bike and completing clean laps can take substantial practice. Many say that learning the physics makes riding and improving times feel rewarding, and praise the realistic handling. Mods are frequently credited with adding bikes, tracks, and gear, though some reviewers criticize how much the experience depends on them. Some also wish for career or AI races, while others report problems with online play or support.

| Multiplayer | MX Bikes supports online and LAN racing. Store features list Online PvP and LAN PvP, and the description states players can host and join online races, with a dedicated server available. There is no AI, so solo play is practice/time-trial style rather than bot matches. Reviews describe public lobbies, practice sessions, races with friends, ranked/race-specific stat tracking, and competitive community events. |
| Multiplayer & mods | Mods materially affect multiplayer. Reviews repeatedly state many or most servers require specific mods, especially tracks and the OEM bike pack, and the server browser indicates when a required track is missing. Mods are commonly needed to join online servers, but no evidence provided says mods change the core player count or add distinct multiplayer types beyond custom content requirements. |
