In 1979, CIA cryptanalyst Adam moves with his wife, Emma, to a countryside home and finds a diary written by Nicolas Hyde, a former resident from the 19th century. The diary draws Adam into events connected to the house and its past.
The story alternates between Adam and Nicolas, following two lives in different centuries as their mysteries unfold. Explore the estate and surrounding locations, inspect objects, collect clues and documents, and investigate events through each protagonist’s perspective.
Gameplay combines code-breaking and other puzzles with first-person exploration. In more threatening sections, use stealth, flight, limited resources, and occasional revolver combat to survive; choices near the end affect how the story concludes.
The supplied reviews often praise the linked timelines and unfolding mystery, along with puzzles—especially the cipher challenges—and the eerie settings, sound, and visual detail. Some players also enjoy how exploration alternates with chases, stealth, and combat. Reactions are mixed: other reviewers find the story’s pacing uneven, puzzles unclear, or scares repetitive, and some describe the controls and technical performance as rough.
