No remarkable journey is achieved without great effort. In Outward, the cold of the night or an infected wound can be as dangerous as a predator lurking in the dark. Explore the vast world of Aurai solo or in Co-op. The Definitive Edition features both DLCs and quality of life improvements.

You play an ordinary traveler in Aurai, not a chosen hero. After a shipwreck, you return to a home burdened by debt and set out into a dangerous fantasy world.
Explore regions on foot, using landmarks and a compass to navigate rather than relying on a marker for your position. Prepare for journeys by managing food, water, sleep, temperature, illness, and supplies; take on missions and search caves, ruins, and dungeons.
Combat rewards preparation as well as timing: use weapons, traps, buffs, and crafted items, and drop your backpack to move more freely. There is no character-level system; skills learned from trainers, equipment, and enchantments shape your build. Play solo or in local split-screen or online co-op. The Definitive Edition includes both DLCs, including New Sirocco city-building.
Players who enjoy Outward often praise the feeling of undertaking a real expedition: learning the world, preparing supplies, and gradually mastering its interconnected survival and combat systems. Spell combinations, build choices, and playing alongside a friend also recur as highlights. Other reviews find the long walks, opaque mechanics, demanding survival routines, and punishing setbacks tedious, so reactions to the game’s deliberate challenge are sharply divided.
The Definitive Edition delivers the ultimate experience for Outward players.
Experience the overhauled and complete Outward experience in the Definitive Edition, which natively includes the content of The Soroboreans and The Three Brothers. Beside the new weapons, dungeons and unique mechanics, you can also expect quality of life improvements. Adventurers, now is your best chance to explore the world of Aurai!

Outward delivers an immersive RPG experience coupled with survival gameplay, offering a deeply-rewarding challenge for the most avid gamers.
As an ordinary adventurer, you’ll not only have to hide or defend yourself against threatening creatures, but also brave the hazardous environmental conditions, protect yourself against infectious diseases, make sure you get enough sleep, and stay hydrated. In order to survive in the dazzling yet deadly world of Aurai, you’ll have to be cunning, clever and prepared. Devise diverse strategies to defeat your foes and don’t neglect your basic needs, sharing your journey with a friend, locally or online.
