Heavy Rain is a crime thriller about the search for the Origami Killer, a murderer who leaves folded-paper clues at crime scenes. You follow four characters with different leads and motives as they pursue the case and try to prevent another victim.
Explore scenes, inspect evidence, talk with characters and carry out everyday or high-pressure actions through on-screen prompts. Quick-time events feature in fights, chases and other tense moments, where your timing and inputs can affect what happens.
Choices and successful or failed actions can redirect events and change the characters’ fates, including whether they survive. The story has multiple endings, and chapter selection lets you revisit completed sections.
Players often praise the interwoven crime mystery for keeping them curious about the killer and invested in the characters’ fates. Meaningful branching, emotional stakes and the rain-soaked atmosphere—often reinforced by the music—are recurring highlights.
