Design a railway network on a detailed map of the real world, whether you are recreating existing routes or imagining new ones. Build tracks and stations across towns, cities, and countries.
Create lines for trams, subways, commuter, regional, and high-speed trains, then manage individual trains, signals, depots, and timetables. Track construction can use automatic aids or allow more detailed control.
Passengers make trips that can involve transfers, with demand varying by time and day. Set fares and manage the company’s finances, or build freely in sandbox mode; optional cooperative play lets invited players work on a network together.
In these reviews, players who enjoy the game often praise the freedom to draw networks on real-world maps, recreate local or national rail systems, and fine-tune train operations. Several describe the combination of network design and detailed scheduling as absorbing, with workshop mods adding more trains and other content. Some players instead find the tools and menus difficult to learn, and reviews also criticize the lack of clear tutorials and aspects of track editing or passenger demand.
