OMORI follows a quiet protagonist through two contrasting settings: a strange, colorful dreamworld and the more everyday surroundings of a small town. Exploring both brings the player closer to a forgotten past.
Travel through surreal locations, meet unusual characters, talk with friends, take on local errands, and encounter puzzles and mini-games along the way. The dreamworld's playful adventures sit alongside the town's grounded encounters.
A four-person party fights in turn-based battles, with an emotion system that changes characters' strengths and weaknesses. The story offers different routes and multiple endings, with the path taken shaping what players encounter.
In this selected sample, players repeatedly praise the story for its emotional impact and gradual revelations, as well as its memorable characters, distinctive art, and soundtrack. Some also enjoy the psychological horror and the contrast between the colorful dreamworld and darker moments. Gameplay reactions are more mixed: reviewers praise the emotion-based combat, while others find battles repetitive and sections slow or overlong.
