Ichiban Kasuga returns to Tokyo after 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Finding his former clan gone and the man he trusted behind his betrayal, he sets out to uncover the truth and rebuild his life, gathering a group of outsiders along the way.
Combat is turn-based, with Ichiban and his party choosing attacks and skills as they face enemies around the city. Characters can take on different Jobs, each offering a distinct combat style, and battles can make use of nearby objects such as bicycles and signs.
Yokohama offers substories and activities alongside the main story, including go-kart racing, arcade games, karaoke, and business management. Players can explore the city, develop their party, and take on optional challenges between story chapters.
In the supplied reviews, players often praise the emotional, humorous story and Ichiban’s earnest personality, as well as the camaraderie among the party. Many also enjoy the unusual side quests, minigames, and turn-based battles; some specifically like experimenting with Jobs and using everyday objects in fights. Criticism most often focuses on stretches of required grinding and tougher late-game bosses, with some players also finding encounters repetitive or the story presentation slow.
