You are a hunter in Kamura Village, where residents face the threat of the Rampage, a wave of monsters attacking the settlement. The story sends you on quests to hunt dangerous creatures across several maps.
Choose from 14 weapon types, each with its own combat style, and adapt your attacks to the monster you face. Wirebugs let you zip across terrain and use weapon-specific moves; Palamutes provide a mount, while Palicoes assist on hunts. You can also ride certain monsters and use them to attack other targets.
Hunts reward materials for crafting and upgrading weapons and armor, giving you a reason to take on stronger monsters and advance through quest ranks. You can hunt alone or join up to three other players, and special Rampage quests task you with defending Kamura from monster hordes.
In the supplied reviews, players often enjoy Rise’s quick, mobile combat, the range of weapon styles, and the hunt-to-craft progression loop. Wirebug movement and companion animals are recurring highlights, and some players especially value teaming up with friends. Others find the early systems difficult to learn, criticize Rampage quests or late-game random gear upgrades, and report frustrations with multiplayer matching. Some reviews say the Sunbreak expansion adds more to the experience.
