In the nations of Allraan, the Galdean Empire is seeking an artifact to amplify the magic of rune-lenses. Nowa, a boy from a remote village, and Seign, an imperial officer, become caught up in the conflict. As the war develops, you lead an alliance against the Empire.
Explore towns and dungeons, take on encounters, and fight turn-based battles with teams of up to six characters. Equip runes to shape abilities, and face bosses with special battle mechanics. The story also features army battles and one-on-one duels.
Recruit more than 100 allies, then expand a headquarters that gains facilities and services as your roster grows. Recruiting and exploring feed into progression, alongside activities such as fishing, cooking contests, card games, theater, and other minigames.
Players who enjoy the game often value its classic JRPG feel, expressive pixel-art presentation, music, large recruitable cast, and the satisfaction of growing a headquarters. Reviews also praise the variety of side activities and the chance to experiment with teams. Others find the combat and pacing slow or shallow, criticize the time required for some minigames and recruitments, and report usability or technical problems. Opinions on the story and character depth are mixed.
