You play a castaway stranded in the Pacific, where survival starts on a deserted island. Explore the surrounding ocean and a chain of islands, gathering natural materials and scavenging abandoned wrecks.
Hunt wildlife, collect food and water, fell trees, and craft tools, rafts and shelters. Keep track of needs such as hunger, thirst, temperature, sleep and sanity while building a base or outfitting a raft to carry supplies.
Explore further for resources and story clues, including notes and blueprints that support quests and crafting. The journey can lead toward repairing a plane and escaping the island region, or you can focus on exploring and building.
Some players enjoy the tropical visuals and atmosphere, exploring islands by raft, and making bases or a raft into a mobile home. Others find the survival and gathering loop satisfying, while recurring complaints describe bugs, awkward inventory and building systems, and co-op problems.
