Set in a post-apocalyptic conflict between the Empire and the Consortium, Nuclear Dawn puts players in squad-based battles across ruined urban landscapes. You can fight on the ground as an infantry soldier or take the commander role and direct the team from a top-down view.
As a soldier, choose among four classes and their loadouts, use a range of weapons, and work toward tactical objectives. As commander, organize squads, manage resources, build structures and forward bases, and research technologies to support the fight.
The two factions use different base-building approaches. Teams contest resource points and terrain while expanding defenses and staging assaults; player ranks, weapon unlocks, and achievements provide additional progression.
Players who enjoy Nuclear Dawn often value its unusual blend of first-person combat and real-time strategy, especially the contrast between fighting as a class-based soldier and coordinating a team as commander. Reviews also praise the atmosphere, maps, and distinctive concept. Other players report that the experience depends heavily on finding other people to play with, and some criticize the bots and rough or buggy systems.
