In Neo-Talis, you lead a customizable noble family of Inquisitors tasked with hunting chromatic monsters while trying to restore the family’s fortunes. Between expeditions, you build relationships with eccentric nobles, take on their unusual requests, and uncover more about the city.
Expeditions combine grid-based exploration, random events, and tactical battles. In combat, dice determine which actions are available; you assign them to movement and abilities, combine the required results, and can reroll selected dice to adjust your turn.
Develop family members through classes and a large pool of active and passive abilities, then mix skills to create different builds. Marriages and children carry aspects of parents’ appearance and abilities into later generations. Earning nobles’ favor unlocks facilities and skills, while campaign modifiers let you adjust a playthrough.
Players often praise the distinctive art and music, the quirky characters, and the freedom to experiment with classes, skills, and family lineages.
