Set in the late 1980s, the game puts you in the role of a train driver on a stretch of the Trans-Siberian Railway near Novosibirsk. The Prologue introduces the locomotive and its route through short trips and lessons in how to operate it.
Drive using either simplified or more realistic controls, managing speed and braking while following railway signs and signals. The locomotive needs regular checks and repairs: worn parts must be replaced, and supplies such as food, tools, and spare parts can be bought with money earned from transporting cargo.
The railway journey also draws on survival systems. Manage needs including hunger, thirst, illness, and cold as weather and visibility change; the wider game’s activities include trading, hunting, and dealing with threats along the route.
Players who enjoy the game often highlight its detailed locomotive operation and the atmosphere of travelling through a bleak, Soviet-era Siberian setting. Some also like its mix of train simulation with survival and railway-underworld elements.
