The collection includes remastered campaigns for Homeworld and Homeworld 2. In the first, an artifact points the people of Kharak toward their ancestral home, and you lead a fleet on the journey through space.
Gather resources, research and build ships, then choose your fleet composition, formations and flight tactics for each mission. Battles unfold in three dimensions, with ships moving and fighting across the vertical axis as well as the familiar horizontal plane.
Ships that survive a campaign mission can carry forward into the next, making losses and fleet management matter over time. The collection also includes the classic versions of both games, mod support, and competitive multiplayer battles for up to eight players.
Players who enjoy the collection often praise the atmosphere created by its music, story and sense of scale, along with the distinct challenge of commanding fleets in three-dimensional space. Remastered visuals and mod support also draw appreciation. Reviews are mixed on how well the remasters play: several report crashes, mission balance problems or troublesome ship behavior.
