You play as Aloy, a young hunter cast out by her tribe, in a future where human communities live among the ruins of an earlier civilization and animal-like machines roam the wilderness. Her journey leads through tribal settlements and wild regions as she searches for answers about her origins and the world around her.
Combat centers on ranged weapons, especially the bow. Scan machines to identify vulnerable components, then use arrows, traps, elemental effects, and crafted ammunition to disable or defeat them. Stealth can help you approach encounters, while a spear provides a close-range option.
Explore the open world, take on quests and hunting challenges, gather materials, and unlock skills and equipment. You can also override some machines to assist you. The Remastered Edition includes The Frozen Wilds expansion, with additional lands, skills, weapons, and machines.
