This package contains two adventures that can be selected separately. In DRAGON QUEST I, you play a descendant of Erdrick who journeys across Alefgard to defeat the Dragonlord. In DRAGON QUEST II, descendants of Erdrick’s line set out to stop a new invasion threatening their kingdoms.
Explore towns, castles, caves, and dungeons, speak with their inhabitants, and battle monsters in turn-based encounters. The first adventure follows a lone hero; the second brings together four royal cousins, each contributing to the party’s fights with weapons, spells, and abilities.
Gain levels, find equipment and items, and prepare for tougher encounters as the worlds open up. In DRAGON QUEST II, a ship lets you travel across seas and rivers. The remake also offers difficulty choices and optional guidance such as quest and location markers.
Players who enjoy the collection often praise its HD-2D presentation and music, the additional story and character detail—especially in DRAGON QUEST II—and the appeal of revisiting or discovering these classic adventures. Some also appreciate the challenge and quality-of-life options.
