We Love It's Guide to…

The Desolate Hope

You play as Coffee, a small service robot aboard Lun Infinus, an abandoned research station built to run simulations about human colonization. With contact from Earth long gone, a mysterious virus is damaging the station’s five sentient computers, the Derelicts, and their simulations. Explore the station and its simulated worlds in side-scrolling platforming sections. Shoot enemies, collect power-ups and bits, and find upgrades while helping keep the Derelicts operational. Some simulations shift into overhead dungeon-crawling mini-games where you can gather money and customize your battlers. Virus encounters become RPG-style boss fights, making upgrades to Coffee and the digital team part of progression; a day-and-night cycle also shapes the station’s activities.

Guide Coffee, a service robot, through a failing research station, platforming simulations, and RPG battles against a spreading virus.

On a distant edge of an unknown planet, an abandoned structure sits in silence. Constructed by an unmanned research vessel sent from Earth, the Lun Infinus station was designed to run simulations for a five year period, exploring possibilities of human colonization in the case that Earth became uninhabitable.
