You run a café open late at night in modern Tokyo, serving a new cast of human and yōkai customers. As the barista, you prepare their orders and listen as their lives, relationships, and concerns emerge over conversations at the counter.
Make drinks by combining ingredients, with options for hot or cold preparations and additions such as whipped cream or ice cream. You can also customize latte art. Serving the requested drink can affect how a customer's story unfolds; free-play and timed challenge modes offer ways to make drinks outside the story.
The story progresses over successive café shifts, with outcomes that vary according to your drink orders and discoveries. Tomodachill, an in-game social network, lets you browse posts and follow hashtags to uncover hidden updates, clues, and additional dialogue. Character endings and a special epilogue are tied to story progress.
Many reviewers enjoy the calm late-night café setting, lo-fi music, pixel art, and stories that they found moving or reflective; some said the characters’ lives and connections stayed with them after playing. The new cold-drink options and expanded Tomodachill feed also appealed to some players. Others found the writing too blunt or repetitive, felt the cast and stories were uneven, or wanted the supernatural setting to play a larger role. Frequent complaints included having to check many social posts and difficulty interpreting some drink requests.
