A crew of robot rejects is sent by the SAXON corporation to investigate a planet-wide fungal catastrophe. Play as one of the New Atlas Hazard Crew in a first-person shooter, taking on planet-side missions alone or with a team.
Fight waves of fungal enemies with futuristic weapons, power tools, grenades, and character abilities. Enemies are made of separate parts: destroy their armor and core, and watch out for loose parts that other foes can pick up and use.
Missions reward upgrades for characters and weapons. Fit differently shaped mods into grid slots to change how your gear works, and level up to unlock further options. An alternate roguelike mode resets your usual build for each run, letting you assemble upgrades as you progress.
Players who enjoy Mycopunk often praise its grid-based upgrades, which let them combine mods into distinctive weapon builds, along with its fast movement and gunplay. Reviews also appreciate co-op play, enemies that can take up discarded parts, and the game's colorful, humorous style. Experiences vary: several players criticize the upgrade grind and random drops, difficulty when playing solo, and fights that can feel repetitive or enemies that take too long to defeat.
