In a zombie outbreak, you guide a group of survivors in an open-world valley. You can recruit people with different traits and switch between members of your community as you explore. Search abandoned buildings for food, medicine, ammunition, and building supplies; take on missions for other survivors; and fight or evade zombies. Vehicles help you travel, carry supplies, and clear a path through the undead. Use gathered resources to build and improve your base while keeping the community supplied. Survivors develop skills, but death is permanent, so losing one means continuing with someone else. The edition includes Story, the escalating survival mode Breakdown, and the military-focused Lifeline.
