Choose a fighter and battle the bizarre minions of the evil wizard Phantom through eight stages inspired by Tokyo districts. Story Mode follows a lighthearted tale, with waves of enemies and bosses punctuating each stage.
Combat combines side-scrolling brawling with fighting-game-style moves. Use light, medium, and heavy attacks, dashes, specials, and lane changes to string together attacks and respond to enemies moving between two lanes.
Four characters are available at the start, with six more to unlock. Earn levels and customize each fighter’s stats and skills; character progress carries across modes. Story and Arcade modes offer campaign and score, combo, or time challenges, while local and online co-op and versus play support up to four players.
Players who enjoy the game praise its colorful pixel art, character animations, and soundtrack, along with combat that offers more moves and customization than a simple button-masher.
