UnReal World is an open-ended, turn-based survival roguelike set in a procedurally generated wilderness inspired by ancient Finland. Choose one of nine cultures and shape a life as a hunter, fisher, trapper, trader, hermit or explorer, without a fixed overarching objective.
Find food and materials by tracking animals, setting traps, hunting with bows or spears, fishing and foraging. Cook and preserve food, make tools and clothing, and trade with nearby villagers. Forests, rivers, wetlands and mountains provide varied terrain to explore.
Develop practical skills such as tracking, cookery and hideworking, then use them to improve your chances of surviving and settling in the wilderness. Build temporary shelters or log cabins, prepare for changing conditions, and weigh the risks of combat, where injuries affect specific parts of the body.
Players often enjoy the detailed, demanding wilderness survival, especially the way hunting, tracking, food gathering and preparation make everyday decisions consequential. Reviews also praise the freedom to choose personal goals and the setting’s Finnish cultural atmosphere. Some describe the challenge as rewarding once the controls and systems become familiar, while others find those systems difficult to learn or survival chores repetitive.
