Styx, a small goblin thief and assassin, takes on missions amid tensions between humans, elves, and dwarves. He must navigate dangerous territories to pursue his goals, relying on stealth rather than strength.
Each mission unfolds across large, multi-level environments with routes over rooftops, ledges, ropes, and hidden passages. Observe guards, use shadows and cover, and choose whether to bypass enemies, silently take them down, or use distractions and environmental traps.
Gather materials to craft tools and useful items, and spend experience points on abilities across several skill branches. Clones can distract or deceive enemies, while optional objectives and collectibles reward further exploration. The missions can also be played cooperatively with a friend.
In this helpfulness-selected sample, players frequently praise the large, vertically layered levels and the freedom to find alternate routes or adapt stealth tactics with tools and abilities. Some also enjoy Styx’s sarcastic humor and the option to play cooperatively. Common reservations include weak direct combat, occasional control or enemy-behavior frustrations, and a story that some find less engaging than the stealth gameplay; reports about co-op reliability are mixed.
