Sheltered is a deep and emotional survival management game. You take on the role of protecting four family members who, after a global apocalypse, have found their way to a deserted shelter.

After a nuclear apocalypse, you manage a family trying to survive in an underground shelter. You can customize the starting family, and each member has needs, traits, and changing physical and mental condition.
Keep the shelter habitable by managing supplies and maintaining its systems, then use gathered materials to craft equipment, furniture, and weapons and expand the base. Choices about how to spend scarce resources affect the family's day-to-day survival.
Send family members into the wasteland to search for supplies and encounter other survivors, with options that can include trading, recruiting, or fighting in turn-based combat. Characters develop through experience, while exploration, shelter improvements, and vehicle-related goals provide longer-term progression.
Players who enjoy Sheltered often praise the tension of rationing supplies and keeping the shelter running, along with the risky expeditions that bring back resources for upgrades. Shelter-building progression and the grim setting also appeal to some, while several players say the family-management systems help them feel invested in their characters. Others find that the routine becomes repetitive once the shelter is stable, and some criticize the interface or unpredictable setbacks.
