Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: Russia

Set in the aftermath of the October Revolution, the game follows Assassin Nikolai Orelov as he travels through Russia and crosses paths with Anastasia. Their story unfolds across a series of side-scrolling 2.5D levels.

Move through guarded areas by hiding, climbing, distracting enemies, and performing stealth takedowns. The levels also include timed escapes, platforming challenges, and occasional rifle-sniping sequences.

Play as Nikolai and Anastasia in turns, using their different abilities to navigate each stage. Nikolai can use a rifle and an electrical winch, while Anastasia can turn invisible briefly; points earned in levels unlock abilities, and replaying stages offers chances to improve scores.

Players who enjoyed the game often singled out its propaganda-inspired red, gray, and black art direction and the bleak atmosphere of revolutionary Russia. Some also praised Nikolai and Anastasia’s story, switching between the two characters, and the rifle and winch mechanics. A recurring complaint was that demanding timing, instant-fail sections, and control issues made progress frustrating.
