Cradle is a sci-fi first-person-view quest designed for the player to explore the surrounding world. The story is built around the relations of the protagonist and a mechanical girl who by quirk of fate found themselves amidst the desert.

You awaken in a yurt on the Mongolian steppe with no memory and a damaged mechanical girl as your companion. As you help restore her, questions about your surroundings and the nearby abandoned amusement park shape the adventure.
Explore the yurt, steppe, and park in first person, inspecting and handling objects to complete tasks. The game mixes environmental puzzles and item use with conversations and trips between locations.
Scattered notes, newspaper clippings, and other details reveal pieces of the setting and story. Progress also involves entering arcade-like virtual spaces to complete cube challenges and obtain parts for your companion.
Players who enjoy Cradle often point to its unusual Mongolian sci-fi setting, subdued atmosphere, visual style, music, and a mystery they can piece together from scattered clues. Some find the story intriguing and memorable, while others feel it is unclear or incomplete. Cube mini-games and awkward object handling are recurring frustrations, and some players also report stuttering performance.
