Timespinner follows Lunais, a timekeeper transported to an unfamiliar world after the Lachiem Empire kills her family and destroys the Timespinner device. She sets out against the empire, with the course of history tied to her journey.
Explore a connected side-scrolling world across Lachiem’s past and present, uncovering hidden areas and treasure while fighting enemies and bosses. Changes made in one era can affect the other, and stopping time can help evade foes, solve puzzles, or use frozen enemies as platforms.
Lunais attacks with collectible magic orbs that gain power through use, and can combine them with spells and equipment. Familiars can be trained to help in battle, while local co-op lets a second player control a familiar.
Reviewers often praise the pixel art, soundtrack, responsive movement, and satisfying exploration, describing the game as a polished take on classic side-scrolling adventures. The time-travel premise and orb-based combat also appeal to many, though some feel the time-stopping abilities are not used often enough. Other recurring reservations include the short campaign, low normal difficulty, and uneven story writing.
