You are held in the Jester’s domain and must build up your resources to challenge him and seek a way out. The game uses poker-style hands as the basis for its card-flipping, incremental progression.
Flip cards to earn coins according to the hands you form, then spend them to expand your hands and buy additional decks and upgrades. You can modify decks by adding, removing, or merging cards, while automatic flips and expeditions provide further ways to develop your setup.
As you progress, new upgrades and systems become available, including expeditions that can uncover special cards. Ascending resets much of your progress in exchange for Poker Chips to spend on lasting bonuses; later, a rune-based combat system provides another route toward confronting the Jester.

Even though the Jester doesn't like it, you can buy new decks of cards in order to play more hands at once. Use this to your advantage to grow those numbers even faster!
Make a deal with Mary the Fairy to start over in exchange for Poker Chips (poker chips? ...but this ain't even poker...?), use those chips to buy even more powerful upgrades.
