Critical Chaos

From the Devs

A RETURN TO CLASSIC RPG ADVENTURE

Critical Chaos is inspired by the RPGs that defined the SNES and original PlayStation eras: full-scale adventures built around exploration, meaningful progression, memorable characters, and the freedom to build a party your way.

Whether you grew up with those classics or discovered turn-based RPGs years later, Critical Chaos offers a lengthy story, extensive optional content, hidden quests, challenging bosses, powerful rewards, and secrets waiting beyond the critical path.

Explore because you are curious, not because a quest marker tells you where to go.

Built with modern conveniences and reduced grinding, Critical Chaos captures the spirit of classic RPGs while remaining approachable to veterans and newcomers alike.

TURN-BASED COMBAT WITH REAL SYSTEMS

Critical Chaos features a deep turn-based combat system built for players who want more than basic attack, magic, and item loops.

Enemies are visible on the map. There are no random battles. Every encounter is one you can see, prepare for, avoid, or confront on your own terms.

Manage turn order, counter enemy attacks, protect allies with taunts and shield blocking, snatch valuable equipment, exploit weaknesses, and combine skills, Classes, Essences, Talents, and Ikons into powerful strategies.

Combat rewards planning, preparation, experimentation, and effective party-building without sacrificing accessibility.

BUILD YOUR SQUAD YOUR WAY

Recruit a varied cast of family members, veterans, warriors, outcasts, and unlikely allies, each bringing different strengths, personalities, abilities, and tactical possibilities to the squad.

Shape your main characters through Class changes, subclassing, stat investment, Talents, Essences, and cross-Class skill progression.

Mix roles. Build specialists. Create balanced teams, overwhelming offensive groups, defensive formations, or unconventional combinations that suit your playstyle.

Critical Chaos gives you the tools to build an effective team without forcing every player toward the same solution.

CHOICES, CONSEQUENCES, AND NO EASY ENDINGS

Critical Chaos is not a story that neatly wraps itself up when the first credits roll.

Choices accumulate throughout the adventure. Hidden paths change what you discover, and multiple endings reveal different outcomes for Statera, your companions, and the forces moving behind the war.

The journey continues through a substantial postgame filled with major questlines, hidden storylines, optional challenges, powerful enemies, superbosses, and the path toward the true conclusion.

Some victories come at a cost.

Some costs are not immediately obvious.

STATERA WAS ALREADY AT WAR BEFORE THE STRANGE THINGS STARTED HAPPENING

An ambitious empire expands through force, fear, and the promise of safety through control. Cities are falling. Borders are collapsing. Monsters now roam roads that were once safe. Beneath the conflict, ancient powers are awakening, and time itself is beginning to fracture.

But this story is about flawed people who choose to do what is right, even when doing so comes at a cost.

It is a story about family.

A middle-aged former martial artist sets out with a simple goal: find a missing loved one.

Not for glory.

Not for greatness.

Out of shape, tired, stubborn, and imperfect.

When everything unravels, the choice becomes clear: stand and fight for what's right, or watch everything you love disappear.

A NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPER

Critical Chaos was created by a career military veteran. The operations and tactics, the weight of military leadership, and the cost of bad odds are not borrowed from other games.
