The year is 1997. You used to be a hacker, but now you have the phage. You made a deal: one hack, one dose. There’s nothing left to lose… except your life.

You play a former hacker living with the phage in a cyberpunk version of 1997. After making a deal to trade hacks for doses, you take on missions across computer networks.
Write assembly-like instructions for EXAs, small software agents that move through networks, manipulate files, send data, and replicate or terminate themselves. Each puzzle asks you to use these tools within its particular rules and resource limits.
Solve missions your way, then optionally refine programs for fewer instructions, fewer cycles, or less EXA activity. Hacker zines introduce tools and add story context; the game also includes minigames, head-to-head program battles, and a puzzle editor with Steam Workshop sharing.
Reviewers often enjoy the programming puzzles for the freedom to devise solutions and the satisfaction of getting small agents to work together, with optional optimization offering another challenge. The retro hacker atmosphere, story, and zine-style materials also earn praise. Reactions to the difficulty and constraints vary: some find the challenge rewarding, while others report unclear instructions, restrictive limits, or a frustrating late-game ramp.
