Demon Killia joins a rebel army to oppose Void Dark, an Overlord seeking control of the Netherworlds. The campaign follows their revolt through a series of story battles and scenarios.
Combat takes place on grid-based maps. Position units, chain attacks, lift and throw allies to reach new spots, and use terrain effects and special abilities to turn battles in your favor.
Recruit units from many classes and races, then develop them through class progression, reincarnation, and customizable abilities. Explore the Item World inside equipment to strengthen it, visit personal Chara Worlds to improve characters, and petition the Dark Assembly for rules and bonuses.
Many supplied reviews enjoy the tactical combat and the range of ways to build and strengthen characters, describing a progression loop with plenty to experiment with and pursue. Some also appreciate the comic characters and tone, though opinions on the story differ. A recurring complaint is that the PC version can freeze or crash entire systems for some players, particularly on Windows 11; other reviews report no such problems or describe workarounds.
