In an alternate 1981, Earth has called off its space program and ordered people raised in space to return home. Three women refuse: veteran pilot Luna-Terra, psychic Pluto, and hacker-hijacker Saturn continue the fight in giant robots as the fate of humanity in space hangs in the balance.
This visual novel follows the pilots across an eight-day conflict between three factions, each with a different vision for humanity's future. Choose one of the three protagonists and make decisions that influence faction outcomes and the pilots' relationships, from rivalry to romance.
Playthroughs offer different perspectives on the characters and the conflict. Chats, emails, and other documents add context about the space program and its factions, while the story blends science-fiction ideas with reflections on identity, humanity, and belonging.
Many supplied reviewers praise the poetic writing, queer characters and relationships, and the way the three protagonists' perspectives reveal more of the story on replay. The setting, mech designs, art, and soundtrack also draw appreciation. Reactions to the abstract style are divided: some find it thought-provoking and rewarding, while others say the story and terminology are difficult to follow; some also criticize the faction choices and reading controls.

It’s 1981, and the dream of a new home in space for all humanity is dead. After fighting for decades against an intangible and ephemeral existential threat from beyond the solar system, Earth command has declared the war effort a huge waste of time. The honeymoon is over, and a future of glittering cities across the solar system and cosmic battles between giant robots just isn’t going to happen. The outcome is clear: it’s time to come home.
But we don’t care. Giant robots may not make any sense. Celestial cities across the solar system are silly dreams. They are, however, extremely awesome. We, the girls who were raised in space, to be special and incredible and pave the way for a new future, aren’t giving up so easily. We’ve got invincible Ship-Selves for ferrying human bodies through time and space, and we have the weight and power to make a fantasy of the future real.
We’re not going out without a fight.
