Play as Sergeant Joe Hartsock, an American airborne soldier fighting in Normandy after D-Day. The single-player story follows his squad as they take on enemy positions beyond Carentan.
Combat is built around commanding your squad rather than relying on accurate solo shooting. Order soldiers to take positions and suppress enemies, then find a route to flank and attack.
Work through a series of campaign missions with additional weapons and vehicles. Skirmish mode offers custom combat missions of increasing difficulty, while cooperative play and multiplayer missions provide options beyond the campaign.
Reviewers often praise the squad-focused combat, especially the need to suppress enemies and maneuver for a flank instead of simply charging in. The story and its perspective on Hartsock also resonate with some players, as do the WWII atmosphere and Skirmish mode. Others find the aiming and squad AI frustrating, and some describe the missions as repetitive or the game as a small step beyond its predecessor.
