After the events of Episode I, Metal Sonic joins forces with Dr. Eggman. Sonic teams up with Tails to confront them across a new adventure.
Race and platform through four Zones, navigating hazards, fighting badniks and bosses, and finding alternate routes. Sonic and Tails can use combination moves to cross obstacles and reach areas on the stage.
Play alone or team up in local or online co-op, with players controlling Sonic and Tails. Special stages offer a route to the Chaos Emeralds; owning both episodes also unlocks Episode Metal, a bonus story featuring Metal Sonic.
Players who enjoy the game often describe it as a substantial improvement over Episode I, especially praising the Tails partnership and its team moves, the visuals, and more varied stages.
