In an alternate 1942, Hitler has revived dinosaurs and turned them into weapons of war. Players join either the Allied or Axis side in a conflict that pairs WWII soldiers with dinosaurs.
Matches use character classes with different weapons and abilities. Allied players can choose human fighters or Trigger, a Protoceratops; the Axis roster includes human soldiers and several dinosaur classes.
Combat combines gunfights with dinosaur attacks, from raptor ambushes to using prey as bait. The game is built around multiplayer team matches, and bots allow offline play when other players aren't available.
Players who enjoy Dino D-Day often point to its unusual WWII-and-dinosaurs premise, the different ways dinosaur classes play, and the chaotic fun of team matches, especially with friends or bots. Some also value its old-school charm. A recurring drawback in the reviews is that finding other players can be difficult; a smaller number mention its dated presentation or crashes on some PCs.
