You take command of a cruiser in the Interstellar Republic and create a captain to lead its campaign against the Children of the Sun. Travel across the galaxy, visiting planets and stations while responding to events that can affect your crew, ship, and story.
Maneuver and fight in real-time space battles, using weapons and ship abilities while managing power between systems such as weapons, shields, and speed. Between battles, choose how to handle text-based encounters and crew situations; some decisions use dice checks and can alter later events.
Develop your captain and crew, whose attributes and roles support different checks and ship systems. Earn and equip ships, weapons, and modules, and use crafting, salvage, and research to improve your arsenal. The stellar map includes procedurally generated events, and you can play with or without permadeath.
