Aliens vs. Predator follows three playable sides around the colony of Freya’s Prospect. Its separate, intersecting campaigns let you experience the conflict as a Marine, an Alien, and a Predator.
As a Marine, fight with firearms in dark, dangerous areas, using a motion tracker to watch for threats. As a Predator, stalk targets with cloaking, tracking equipment, and weapons for ranged and close combat. As an Alien, crawl across walls and ceilings, move through vents, and ambush enemies.
Alongside the single-player campaigns, the game includes online modes where the three species fight each other, plus a survival mode built around waves of enemies.
Players repeatedly enjoy the contrast between the three campaigns: Marine sections build tension through darkness and motion-tracker alerts, while the Alien and Predator let players hunt from very different perspectives. Reviews also often praise the atmospheric settings and sound, and the chance to play as the creatures themselves. Some players find the controls or campaign length frustrating, and several note that online matches are difficult to find.
