After a catastrophe leaves Moscow’s surface poisoned, survivors build communities in the subway. You play as Artyom, a young man raised underground who sets out from his home station to warn others of a looming threat.

Follow a largely linear route through inhabited stations, dark tunnels, and the ruined city above. Fight mutants and armed humans, or try to slip past some encounters unseen; along the way, conversations and environmental details reveal how people live and struggle underground.

Survival depends on managing scarce supplies. Military-grade bullets can be spent as powerful ammunition or used as currency, while surface excursions require a gas mask and limited filters.
